About Ayia Napa

What was once a small fishing village in the south-eastern corner of Cyprus, Ayia Napa is now one of the island's major resorts and a hotspot for holiday-makers looking to have fun in the sun.

Ayia Napa is a popular holiday destination for many Northern Europeans. It attracts two main types of tourists: young (and usually single) under-25s who are lured by Ayia Napa's international reputation as a party capital and families with young children who come for the wonderful weather, the excellent beaches and the parent-friendly facilities such as kids' clubs, a huge waterpark, go-karting, mini-golf and bowling.

The streets around the monastery in the centre of Ayia Napa are filled with dozens of bars and more than twenty clubs, all within a few hundred meters of each other.

The beaches of Ayia Napa, have lovely golden sand, clear blue water and are generally clean and safe. Many have been awarded a Blue Flag and have lifeguards on duty, as well as offering all the usual amenities such as water sports, umbrellas, sunbeds and showers. The most famous beach is Nissi Beach, which tends to be overcrowded. Other popular beaches include Nissi Bay to the west of Ayia Napa and Cape Greco to the east.

Ayia Napa is not a place to come in search of tranquillity and tradition. However if what you want is to have fun in the sun, this is the right place to be.
